
The Johnson Cancer Center’s multi-disciplinary ensemble of faculty researchers and students, Advisory Council, and administrative staff, as well as its many generous donors, all contribute to the Center’s success in achieving its mission to further the understanding of cancers by funding basic cancer research, and supporting higher education, training, and public outreach.
Faculty affiliates in nearly 70 K-State laboratories of 11 departments are unraveling the mysteries and complexities of cancer.
Our numerous student awards and excellent training opportunities play a role in transforming today’s students into some of tomorrow’s top cancer researchers.

A K-State researcher is studying the potential health benefits of a specially bred purple sweet potato because its dominant purple color results in an increased amount of anti-cancer components.
Pack it with pink! The Pink rodeo will be Friday, July 24, during the Riley County Fair, to raise awareness of breast and other cancers, and funds for cancer research at K-State. Also watch for these related events:

Our annual Undergraduate Cancer Research Award Banquet was held Friday, April 17, 2009. Student winners, faculty mentors, and award fund donors are recognized during the ceremony.
The Manhattan Cancer Awareness Committee hosted the In the Pink luncheon for breast cancer awareness at 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008 at Mercy Regional Health Center in Manhattan.
